Maureen Faye-Chauhan
Australia, b. 1969
Maureen Faye-Chauhan completed a Master of Fine Art at Monash University in 2008 and has since shown her work internationally at exhibitions such as Schmuck Munich, SOFA New York and The BUDA Contemporary Australian Silver and Metalwork Award. Her first solo exhibition, Concurrence, was held at Funaki in May, 2015.
Maureen’s work explores the interplay of surface and light, with a strong emphasis on rigorous metalsmithing skills combined with the use of technology to form complex structures.
“For an artist, part of the creative process is bringing forth something from nothing, ideas develop, a drawn line closes and becomes a shape, and through the manipulation of space, that shape becomes a form. My current practice involves an investigation into this development of form and my inspiration is drawn from a fascination with the fundamental geometric patterns that are found within nature’s building blocks; like growth in nature my objects are created using repeated elements.” Maureen Faye-Chauhan
